Summary:

Are you looking to work with one of New Jersey's top five hospitals as a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery (RN – L&D) on a travel basis? In this role, you will apply your clinical expertise to provide exceptional care to patients throughout all stages of growth and development. As part of a collaborative team, you will deliver comprehensive patient care, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure patient satisfaction in a safe and professional environment.

Duties:

  • Demonstrates competent knowledge of normal stages of growth and development from pediatric to geriatric, providing appropriate patient care. Performs thorough, systematic, and accurate assessments.

  • Consistently demonstrates proficiency in clinical skills. Provides direct patient care and supports the team concept by delivering appropriate nursing care to the patient population. Demonstrates competence with emergency equipment and procedures.

  • Maintains complete, accurate, and timely documentation in patient charts, including documenting components of the nursing process and patient progress. Ensures patient education is properly recorded.

  • Upholds professional practice responsibility. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of policies and procedures and identifies opportunities for both clinical and professional growth.

  • Responds to patients, families, and co-workers in a professional, courteous, and positive manner. Promotes an environment where patient- and family-centered care is prioritized and the care team works cooperatively toward patient goals. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.

  • Follows National Patient Safety Goals, Universal Protocol, and utilizes two patient identifiers. Demonstrates safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for both self and patients.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of conditions, diagnoses, procedures, and equipment used for surgical patients. Tailors patient care based on the procedure and type of anesthesia, across the continuum of care. Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedures and instructions.

  • Contributes to the perioperative team by prioritizing patient care according to patient needs and changes in their condition. Assumes responsibility for directing patient care and ensuring high-quality outcomes.

  • Assesses patients' understanding of surgical procedures and instructions, involving patients and families in the educational process. Provides pre-operative and post-operative assessments and education.

  • Supports timely completion of pre-admission testing (PAT) and evaluates orders for appropriateness and completeness based on the proposed surgery, patient age, and health status.

Physical Requirements:

  • As defined by Occupational Safety/OMS.

Skills:

ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) – Required

BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required

RN License – Required

Education:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
