Registered Nurse (RN or LPN) position available to work as our Infection Control Nurse.

*Experience as an Infection Control nurse preferred but not required.
*Certification as an Infection Control nurse is preferred but not required.
The Infection Control nurse is responsible for the identification, evaluation, confirmation and monitoring of all resident infections/infectious diseases based on the current State and Federal Regulations and Centers for Disease Control Standards including monitoring, reporting, record keeping and trending of infections/infectious disease, resident Tuberculosis testing, resident Influenza/H1N1/Pneumoccal Vaccine program and employee/resident COVID-19 testing in accordance with State and Federal regulatory requirements. This position is also responsible for the coordination, administration, and record keeping related to staff Tuberculin testing, Influenza and COVID-19 programs.
*This position does require current infection prevention control certification through the CDC. If you are not currently certified you will be required to obtain the certification.
Position Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Evaluates, confirms, monitors, tracks and trends all resident infection/infectious diseases. Reports infections/infectious diseases to State agencies as required by regulations.
- Track resident influenza, Pneumococcal and H1N1 vaccinations. Coordinate annual vaccine administration, provide resident/responsible party education, and maintain current record keeping of the immunization program.
- Monitor and maintain accurate record keeping and documentation of resident Tuberculosis Skin testing or alternative testing completion on admission and annually.
- Coordinate, administer and maintain the Staff Influenza vaccine program on a yearly basis.
- Participate in committees as directed.
- Adheres to the established facilities policies related to infection control and reducing the potential spread of infection.
- Works cooperatively as part of the health care team to evaluate and revise current practices, policies and procedures.
- Maintains and promotes relationships with residents, visitors, and other staff members, and government regulators by presenting a professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding resident rights and confidentiality.
- Attends and participates in orientation, training efforts, educational activities, in-service functions, and staff meetings.
- Understands and follows safety and sanitation rules, practices safety is provision of services, and promptly reports any hazards or violations to a supervisor.
- Performs additional functions or duties, as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Knowledge
- CUSTOMER AND PERSONAL SERVICE: Knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer and personal services.
- ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Must have the ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
- EDUCATION AND TRAINING: Two to four year degreed nursing program..
- PSYCHOLOGY: Recognizing and being sensitive to resident and family concerns, stressors during time of admission or financial difficulty.
- SAFETY AND SECURITY: Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of staff and residents, data, and the Facility as a whole.
- MATHEMATICS: Ability to perform basic mathematics.

Position Hours and Travel
- The hours are Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM. Shifts should not vary based on the needs of the facility.
- Overtime hours, with little or no notice, although unlikely, may be required, if deemed necessary by Administration.
- Although unlikely, local and out-of-town travel may be required for training purposes. Average travel expectation is less than 1%.

All relevant personnel will participate in compliance education and training programs of the Facility. Employees will be required to have a minimum number of educational hours per year, as appropriate, as part of their employment responsibilities. Participation in training programs is a condition of continued employment. These training requirements will be a factor in each employees annual evaluation.
