Description:
BASIC FUNCTION: Provides admissions & annual physicals for outpatient chemical dependency program. Provides ongoing evaluation and intervention to clients as needed. Participates in interdisciplinary team discussions.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Collects medical history at admission and performs annual physical examinations.
- Orders all required laboratory tests and other medical procedures and reviews results.
- Presents findings to physician for final admission diagnosis*. (*The determination of a two-year history of narcotic dependence and current physiological addiction must be made by a licensed physician. The final decision to accept a client for methadone treatment must be made and recorded in the client's clinical record by a licensed staff physician.)
- Updates immunizations such as tetanus and influenza.
- Applies and interprets tuberculosis skin tests.
- Draws blood for admissions, annual evaluations and other tests as indicated.
- Sees clients with medical complaints, prescribes appropriate treatment and/or makes appropriate referrals.
- Evaluates appropriateness of continued treatment on a regular basis pursuant to and in compliance with mandated regulations.
- Evaluates client's reaction to medication and presents findings to physician.
- Evaluates need for dosage change and makes recommendation to physician.
- Reports all unusual medical occurrences with clients to the physician.
- Provides primary emergency care to clients in treatment.
- Reviews urinalysis results as required.
- Records all appropriate notes and documents in the client's chart.
- Assumes active role in interdisciplinary management of the client.
- Participates in interdisciplinary staff conferences.
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday. Mon/Fri 10AM-6PM; Tues-Thurs 9AM-5PM
SALARY: $95,000 - $98,000 / year dependent on experience

Requirements:
QUALIFICATION - EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
- RPA license in the State of New York and Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university; 2 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
