POSITION SUMMARYPerform comprehensive polysomnographic testing and analysis and associated intervention under the general oversight of a polysomnographic technologist, (RPSGT) and the Director of Cardiopulmonary and the medical director.POSITION REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education: High School education or equivalent. On the Job training acceptable but prefer attendance or graduation from accredited school for polysomnography. Minimum Work Experience: Minimum of 3 months on the job training acceptable. If BRPT international credentialed 1 month clinical training acceptable. Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS required. Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: None Preferred Qualification: Completion of an accredited educational facility for polysomnographyJOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS 1. Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the HMHD Compliance Plan. 2. Conduct reflects HMHD's values and a commitment to HMHD's Code of Conduct. 3. Attends the required corporate integrity and compliance training and education programs. 4. Demonstrates proficiency in understanding the materials presented during the corporate integrity and compliance training and education program. 5. Complies with all HIPAA standards. 6. Gather and analyze patient information. 7. Review history, physical information, medications, procedure request and study protocol. 8. Complete and verify documentation. 9. Explain the procedure and orient the patient to the sleep center. 10. Polysomnographic Procedures. 11. Follow light out procedures to establish and document baseline values (i.e. body position, oxygen saturation, respiratory and heart rates). 12. Perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact free and make adjustments, if necessary. 13. Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of results. 14. Implement appropriate interventions such as CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen administration. 15. Follow lights on procedures to verify integrity of collected data and complete the data collection process (e.g. repeat the instrument calibrations). 16. Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment, assessment, and education of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. 17. Polysomnographic Record Scoring. 18. Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines. 19. Assist with scoring clinical events such as respiratory and cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc. 20. Assist with the generation of accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data. 21. Service and Professional. 22. Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and standards regarding safety and infection control issues. 23. Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation. 24. Willing to consult (and be consulted) with other staff and physicians in the proper performance and interpretation of tests or procedures. 25. Strives to recognize and evaluate personal strengths and weaknesses; handles personal and professional frustrations appropriately. 26. Processes, performs and reports sleep testing within reasonable time frames under normal circumstances. 27. Inspires confidence from co-workers and other departments by performing and communicating in a highly professional manner at all times. 28. Identifies possible problems and provides input for solutions. 29. Always maintains confidentiality in regard to patient information. 30. Consistently reports to work at the scheduled time and is ready to work at the start of assigned shift. 31. Attends to personal matters outside of work time to avoid productivity problems or conflicts. 32. Consistently organizes and executes tasks and duties to maintain optimal productivity and efficiency. 33. Consistently maintains a neat professional appearance. 34. Has a thorough understanding Hospital Fire, Safety and Disaster plans. 35. Consistently projects a positive caring image in patient and employee interactions. 36. Maintains diagnostic test log sheets and insures that patient information is entered into Departments information system. 37. Able to identify life threatening patient situations and act accordingly. 38. Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages by applying professionally accepted guidelines. 39. Consistently performs duties and responsibilities with minimal direct supervision required.
