POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide respiratory support to patients of all ages with abnormalities of cardiopulmonary function. Respiratory Therapists play a critical part of the interdisciplinary team at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. Administration and monitoring of all diagnostic and therapeutic modalities within the service's scope of practice.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

• Initiate, monitor, and adjust parameters on all patients receiving invasive mechanical ventilation, BIPAP, CPAP, HFNC and/or other modalities (ex: Vest therapy, Mobilization, Nitric Oxide, etc.) as per physician order.
• Work in various areas of medicine such as ICU, CCU, ER, telemetry, OR, PACU, Step-down, Labor and delivery and Nursery.
• Must be able to work independently and without supervision.\

REQUIREMENTS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

• Graduate of an AMA Respiratory program or Certificate of completion from an AMA-accredited program.
• Current NYS Respiratory Therapist License.
• A.A.S. degree in Respiratory Care is required, B.S. preferred.
• Three to five years prior respiratory care experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Current PALS provider certification from the American Heart Association is required within one year of hire.
• Current NRP provider certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Heart Association required withing on year of hire.
• Ability to work unsupervised.

Prior to start date, the selected candidate must meet the following requirements:

• Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services*
• Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
• Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
• Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
• Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

*The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examination.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $38.93 - $49.63/hour based on relevant experience.
