Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel
Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. This position is ideal for an experienced legal professional who can manage complex regulatory matters, provide strategic legal advice, and ensure compliance with applicable laws. The successful candidate will work closely with various stakeholders within the organization, including company management and in-house legal resources, as well as outside counsel when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal guidance on a wide range of regulatory, compliance, and litigation issues affecting the organization.
- Independently manage litigation matters, ensuring effective strategy development and execution.
- Oversee and handle administrative appeals related to agency decisions, utilizing a thorough understanding of administrative law.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents to protect company interests.
- Collaborate with internal teams to identify legal risks and develop business-oriented solutions to legal challenges.
- Conduct comprehensive legal research to support ongoing cases and inquiries, ensuring that all legal strategies are informed by current laws and regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal trends and relevant regulatory changes impacting the organization.
- Facilitate training sessions for staff on legal compliance and risk management, fostering a culture of compliance within the organization.
- Build and maintain relationships with external legal partners and other stakeholders to ensure the company's legal interests are met effectively.
Position Requirements:
- Admission to the Connecticut Bar is preferred; candidates in good standing from other states will also be considered. Admission to the Connecticut Bar must be achieved within one year as a condition of employment.
- Proven experience in handling administrative agency appeals, particularly within a corporate or regulatory framework.
- A self-motivated professional with the ability to assume independent responsibility for complex legal matters.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing positively to the workplace environment.
- Ability to think critically and propose business-oriented solutions to legal issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of clear and effective communication with diverse audiences.
- Exceptional legal research skills, with the ability to distill complex legal concepts into practical advice.
Education:
- A Bachelor's Degree is required.
- A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school is mandatory.
Experience:
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a corporate or regulatory environment.
