THE POSITION

Are you interested in joining the team that works to ensure public health and safety for the citizens of the commonwealth? The Department of State's Bureau of Enforcement and Investigation is seeking a highly dedicated person to uphold the standards of various business professions. The Regulatory Enforcement Inspector ensures a high standard of regulated business by performing detailed inspections throughout the region. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This is a highly rewarding position with a focus on field inspection of barber shops, cosmetology salons, real estate offices, and vehicle dealerships to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations. Inspectors issue citations when appropriate violations are found and provide limited investigative support activities. You will have the opportunity to travel to various sites in a geographic area of the state to conduct periodic inspections of all affected professions and occupations, by observation and interviews, noting any deviation from established standards, and preparing reports to communicate findings.

The professional team of inspectors assigned to the Harrisburg Regional Office (HRO) will provide inspection services to the following counties that comprise the HRO: Somerset, Bedford, Fulton, Franklin, Adams, York, Lancaster, Berks Lebanon, Dauphin, Cumberland, Perry, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, Centre, Cambria, Blair, and Clearfield. Inspectors are assigned specific areas to provide coverage; however, an inspector could be assigned an inspection anywhere within the HRO.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

+ Full-time employment.

+ Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

+ Three years of experience involving interpersonal public contact and inspecting for compliance with rules and regulations and reporting related facts;or

+ An Associate's Degree and one year of experience involving interpersonal public contact and inspecting for compliance with rules and regulations and reporting related facts;or

+ Any equivalent combination of experience and training which included one year of experience involving interpersonal public contact and inspecting for compliance with rules and regulations and reporting related facts.

Other Requirements:

+ This particular position also requires a driver's license which is not under suspension.
