Overview:

This core Rehab Aide position is a great opportunity to learn more about rehabiliation services and support patients and therapists at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina! The role assists with patient care under the direction of a therapist, transporting patients to/from Rehab gym, managing equipment, cleaning Rehab spaces and equipment, scheduling therapy appointments, light clerical tasks and other tasks as needed.

  • FTE 1.0, authorized for 80 hours per pay period.
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm and one weekend (Saturday/Sunday) every four weeks (hours may vary on weekends). On weekends worked, there will be give back days during the week that are TBD.

M Health Fairview Rehabilitation offers a broad range of services that serve patients across 10 acute-care hospitals, 3 post-acute settings and 70 outpatient adult and pediatric therapy clinics. Consisting of Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy as well as Audiology and Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehab, our therapists collaborate with colleagues in all medical settings and offer dozens of specialty programs.

Responsibilities/Job Description:

Provides patient transfers and transport Follows proper procedure when completing/assisting with patient transfers to ensure safety of patient and self Transports assigned patients in a safe and timely manner Observes patient condition during transport and reports adverse symptoms to therapy or nursing staff

Prints up schedule of transports from Epic

With appropriate training may assist with patient care as delegated and under the supervision of a Certified/Licensed Rehab Professional Including set-up of treatment equipment, monitoring patient activities, scoring of tests Immediately reports any observed change in patient status to supervising Certified/Licensed Rehab Professional May need to use Epic to check for patient weight/height and weight-bearing status

Prepares, maintains and cleans department/treatment areas in compliance with safely and infection control standards

Completes cleaning per schedule Completes maintenance, temperature and safety checklist Completes required checklists

Assists with ordering, inventorying, issuing and verification of billing of supplies and/or patient treatment equipment, including rental equipment. Knowledge of varying requirements for payor reimbursement of issued medical equipment, including waivers for non-covered equipment and Medicare primary walker issuance Ability to navigate in Epic to print up face sheet

Meets Customer Service Expectations for Department Addresses patients/visitors in a professional and positive manner Answers phones promptly and courteously Protects confidentiality of protected patient information while working in a highly visible environment Demonstrates the ability to perform multiple, simultaneous tasks in an environment faced with interruptions

Demonstrates awareness of and compliance with department productivity standards, attendance, time management and prioritization.

Participates in department, facility process/quality improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

Required

BLS Certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross

Preferred

High school diploma or equivalent

Continuing education in career path of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, or other rehabilitation services (cardiac, pulmonary, etc.)

Interest in Rehab Services or Healthcare fields
