Summary:
The incumbent will assist in providing access to services provided at the hospital and/or Rehab clinics by scheduling and performing admission and dismissal processes. This position requires excellent customer service skills, both written and oral, which involves ability to communicate effectively over the phone. Knowledge of all tasks performed in the Rehab front office areas is necessary to provide optimum internal and external customer satisfaction and provide the opportunity for accurate reimbursement. This position is primarily responsible for the registration of patients by obtaining patient demographic and third party information with a high degree of accuracy. They are also responsible for verification of health plan coverage eligibility and collection of payment toward their plan, at the time of service. This position requires knowledge of HMOs, PPOs, Commercial Payers, HSAs, Cobra, Medicaid, STAR plans, CSHCN, CHIP and hospital financial assistance programs. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining knowledge of JCAHO, HIPPA, Patient Rights and Responsibilities, and departmental/system policies and procedures. This position provides administrative and operational support for department therapists and the clinic manager. The Patient Access Insurance Specialist must be detail oriented, personable, calm, flexible, honest, and capable of handling difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. Incumbent must possess skills to effectively communicate in a professional manner with various internal and external providers.
Qualifications:
* High School diploma or equivalent required
* Ability to type, spell, write or print legibly with general knowledge of personal computers required
* Strong interpersonal communication, documentation and customer service skills required
* 1-2 years of Hospital admissions or physician's office experience required or 1-2 years professional work experience
* Knowledge of health care insurance and managed care required
* Medical terminology preferred
* Bilingual preferred
