Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean and efficient therapy environment and assisting with patient care as directed by the clinical staff. Responsibilities 1. Therapy Support - Greets all patientsin a friendly and courteous manner. Escorts patients as appropriate. May transport patients within a facility. May also assist patients in moving from one surface to another (e.g. from a bed to a chair). Observes a patient in treatment areas and reports changes in a patient's condition to the clinical staff. Assists therapists with patient care as directed which may include, but is not limited to helping a patient to walk, applying heat/cold modalities once trained, demonstrating the use of treatment equipment or helping a patient with their exercise program. 2. Environmental maintenance - maintains clean, safe and well equipped therapy environment, which may include but is not limited to the cleaning of treatment equipment and surfaces (mats, mirrors), maintaining equipment check logs (e.g. temperatures) and cleaning treatment areas between patients. Keeps therapy supplies stocked according to both need and infection control guidelines (i.e. expiration dates, labeling, etc.)
Clerical duties - - In-patient aides:
- Uses Meditech to enter charges or as needed.
- Call unit coordinators re: scheduling of come-down patients.
- Send faxes as requested.
- Files completed order sheets and discharge cards daily; may assist in copying records and forms as requested
- Update schedule board and book on an ongoing basis daily
- Outpatient aides
- Uses Chartlinks to schedule therapy appointments
- Call patients to confirm appointments as directed
- Faxes other communications as directed (to physicians, vendors, etc)
- Scans documents into Chartlinks
- Files charts daily
- Maintains inventory of therapy supplies
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Good computer and phone skills. Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
Must be able to:
- exert 20 - 50 lbs of force occasionally (0-33% of the time) and/or;
- exert 10-25 lbs of force frequently (34-66% of the time) and/or:
- exert up to 10 lbs of force constantly
- Maintain and assume positions that require considerable use of the whole body such as standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, bending, squatting, kneeling, stair climbing, reaching forward/overhead, and rotation in all directions
- Assist with lifting/transferring patients, maintain balance while helping to guard patients during gait training on level surfaces/uneven surfaces/wet surfaces/ramps/stairs, pushing and pulling to provide resistance and to assist in maneuvering patients
- Respond quickly to emergency situations by lifting/pushing/pulling patients
- Demonstrate proper body mechanics during all assigned tasks
