Work Shifts 8:00 A.M - 4:00 P.M Job Description Purpose: Under professional supervision and as a member of an interdisciplinary team, provides rehabilitation and vocational counseling to patients enrolled in the Medically Supervised Outpatient program. Specific Duties and Responsibilities: The Rehabilitation Counselor is charged with and responsible for: Performs some or all of the following duties: Interviews, orients and assesses patient vocational and educational needs. Provides individual and/or group counseling to patients in terms of their education and occupation, socio-economic status, medical prognosis and test results. Maintains appropriate records. Secures cooperation of organizations and employers in the rehabilitation training or placement of patients. Attends clinical team meetings to discuss appropriate patient care activities. Represents agency in meetings with employers or rehabilitation training agencies as appropriate. Maintains accurate, confidential, and legible rehabilitation records on each patient according to agency requirements. Assists patient in resume preparation and education. Conducts weekly job club for patients work-ready. Is knowledgeable of hospital and departmental policies and procedures, and demonstrates the ability to perform his/her duties in accordance. Maintains a caseload of outpatient SUD clients. Is courteous and professional interacting with patients, colleagues and the public. Minimum Qualifications 1. A Masters Degree in vocational rehabilitation issued after completion of a two year course in an accredited college. 2. A Masters Degree or 30 credits of graduate study in vocational guidance, vocational rehabilitation, or related fields and one year of full-time experience in vocational guidance, medical or correctional rehabilitation, or 3. A satisfactory equivalent. Department Preferences Demonstrates commitment to continued professional development. Strong verbal/written communication and customer ICARE values.
