This posting will be used to fill position vacancies in Career Service.

This position is specific for a Music Therapist who is board-certified or board eligible.
The applicant selected to fill this position shall be required to submit to a pre-employment medical examination. This position requires lifting, pulling, and squatting. Duties of this position require the incumbent to be knowledgeable of and utilize the principles of Total Quality Management.
The Music Therapist uses therapeutic programs based on the identified patient needs, capabilities, and interests. As well as provides music therapy interventions to support the developmental, rehabilitative, psychological, socioemotional, and psychoeducational needs of FSH patients from various demographic and multicultural backgrounds.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Designs, implements, and evaluates music therapy interventions to address the biopsychosocial needs of patients as appropriate, under the Scope of Practice of the Certification Board for Music Therapists.
+ Provides direct patient services including, but not limited to Psychiatric Rehabilitation (developing a trusting relationship with residents, assisting patients in choosing desired roles and acquiring skills and supports needed for goal achievement), Treatment (Substance Abuse, Anger Management, Competency Restoration), and Enrichment (services aimed at increasing knowledge, skills, and abilities for improving overall quality of life and promoting successful community integration).
+ Assists Music Therapy Department as needed to develop and evaluate music therapy programs and initiatives.
+ Provides support and supervision to Music Therapy Interns through our AMTA National Roster Internship Program.
+ Documents progress and patient reactions/perspective of individual progress by completing progress notes according to the mental health facility procedures and policies.
+ Conducts interviews and assessments, performs record reviews and consults with recovery team members to identify patient service needs (strengths, needs, abilities and preferences).
+ Coordinates frequent program evaluations, evaluates intended outcomes, and identifies improvement processes.
+ Participates in performance improvement initiatives individually and by working with teams and revises/develops programs as directed by supervisor.
+ Maintains current training required by the facility and increases knowledge of best practices and new techniques for service delivery.
+ Provides learning opportunities, supervision, and mentorship for trainees including interns, volunteers, and community visitors. Provides role modeling and training for other staff as directed by supervisor.
+ Attends hospital, community, state and national professional meetings, lectures, staff conferences continuing education seminars and conventions.
+ Provides support for hospital-wide activities and initiatives as directed by supervisor. Escorts patients to activities as directed by supervisor and maintains a safe environment.
+ Performs other related work as required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
+ Proficiency in instruments such as, voice, guitar, piano, and percussion.
+ Proficiency in sight-reading simple accompaniment and chord charts.
+ Knowledge of therapeutic methods and Music Therapy principles and practices
+ Knowledge of music therapy assessment testing principles and practices.
+ Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data.
+ Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
+ Ability to develop policies, procedures, and standards.
+ Ability to analyze and interpret data from peer reviewed research.
+ Contribute to the education of others regarding the use and benefits of music therapy.
+ Ability to formulate and implement goals and objectives.
+ Further optimize the goals of the individualized music therapy treatment plan.
+ Understanding of various mental health diagnoses and terminology.
+ Maintain knowledge of current developments in research, theory, and techniques concerning addictive disorders and related areas.
+ Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
+ Ability to communicate effectively.

+ Adhere to AMTA standards of clinical practice.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED :
+ Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
+ 1,200 clinical hours of music therapy field work which includes an internship in medical setting
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED :
+ MT-BC (Music Therapist - Board Certified) by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT)
