Job DescriptionClerical: Responsible for performing clerical support functions in the Physical Therapy department including, but not limited to: appropriately greets, escorts, registers patients and informs therapist upon outpatient arrival; schedules inpatients and outpatients for rehabilitation services; verifies patient identity and works with insurance companies to obtain insurance authorizations for physical therapy services; collecting pertinent patient information; performing telephone duties as requested; preparing new outpatient charts; updating and files departmental records/charts/insurance forms; keeping updated on insurance needs and follows through appropriately; obtaining updated physician orders ; coordinate the sending and tracking of physician certification and communicates issues appropriately around patient approvals. Contacts new patients to remind them of scheduled appointment; Prepares and accurate daily schedule; maintaining accurate daily and monthly statistics; entering accurate and timely daily charges; transcribing initial patient evaluations on the Meditech system in a timely manner; assisting in ordering of supplies and ensures economical use of supplies, linens and utilities and assists with mail responsibilities;Safety: Ensures employee and patient safety including but not limited to: practices safety precautions involving self, patients and staff while performing job duties; ensuring work areas and equipment are clean and safe, in accordance with organizational safety and infection control standards; following isolation procedures and uses PPE as indicated;Quality: Participates in organizational and departmental quality initiatives to continuously assure that patients receive high quality care including, but not limited to: keeping updated on and follows established departmental and organizational polices; actively participating in established Quality Program and sharing ideas for patient experience improvement initiatives; performing audits as requested; attending hospital and departmental in-services as required. Gathers performance metrics data and establishes spreadsheet for identification of patterns and trends, communicating issues to manager;Service Excellence: Provides service excellence to enhance the patient experience, including but not limited to: demonstrating understanding of behaviors consistent with the Hospital Mission, Vision, Goals and Values; conducting oneself in a courteous, respectful and professional manner in all interactions with patients, staff, vendors and others; promoting good working relationships with medical/organizational staff; communicating in an open, positive and cooperative manner, avoiding gossip; utilizing AIDET principles to communicate with patients.This is for both locations of Brooks-TLC and Gowanda.Minimum or Preferred QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent with one to three years' experience performing clerical duties and responsibilities in a health care inpatient, outpatient or clinical environment.Salary Range$16.95-$20.40 per hour *Wage will be determined based on factors such as candidate's experience, qualifications, internal equity, and any applicable collective bargaining agreement.*
