Job Description:
Zurich North America is hiring a Reinsurance Controller to join our team! The position is located in our Schaumburg, IL location and will report to the Head of Finance Reinsurance, NA. The ZNA Group Re Finance team is responsible for reinsurance finance & operations, reinsurance recoveries (claims), reinsurance asset management, reinsurance analytics, as well as responsibility for the governance and control over all forms of reinsurance (treaty, facultative and captive reinsurance) across ZNA.You will be joining a dynamic high performing team that gives you great opportunities to make an impact, learn, grow and be purpose driven.Key Accountabilities
  • Acts as escalation point for emerging reinsurance accounting issues, ensuring the proper coordination, analysis and ongoing close related support
  • Attention to controls, processes, cross team analytics, hot topics , projects and ad hoc initiatives
  • Reinsurance reporting, budgeting, planning
  • Helping to run the overall operation in conjunction with strong collaboration with the current management team, as well as our other key stakeholders (i.e., Financial Accounting & Reporting, Actuarial, Claims, etc.)
  • Lead and motivate a team to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic working environment
  • Business Travel, as required
  • Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required
  • Pass Applicable Exam/Licensing, as required
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance and 8 or more years of experience in the Reinsurance/Insurance/Audit/Accounting area within the Insurance industry AND
  • People management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced knowledge of the reinsurance finance operations
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting concepts (both IFRS and STAT)
  • Advanced understanding of financial reporting processes
  • Advanced understanding of internal controls and the audit function
  • Advanced leadership ability with experience leading other managers
  • Ability to manage and participate in large projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge and experience working with reinsurance contracts
  • Knowledge of reinsurance claim recoverable process and link to direct claim processing required in certain roles
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Technology experience related to one or more of the following areas:
    • General ledger SAP
    • Financial Reporting systems
    • Business Objects or other query tools
  • CPA / CPCU / CFA / CTP / MBA

We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply, as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled.
