Job Description:

Tesla Gigafactory New York is looking for an experienced Quality Leader for our Energy Business. In this role you will build a world class quality team and process to enable Tesla to deliver safe and reliable stationary energy storage solutions to drive the mission to accelerate the world's transition towards sustainable energy. This is a dynamic position where you work in partnership with Quality Engineering and Production, to assure products and processes to be built right first time, and continuously improve them to meet Customer expectations and profitability goals. The Manager provides hands-on support, leadership, and direction to their direct reports, and takes pride in their hands-on and analytical abilities, organizational skills and attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a track record of significant achievements, tremendous drive, and a willingness to roll up their sleeves. Responsibilities

  • Lead Engineers, Engineering Technicians, and Technicians to support production lines in Gigafactory New York Site
  • Manage all laboratories and its assets to ensure 27x7 support with trusted test results. Manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) requests for labs and quality assurance equipment used in production, Reliability Testing, Failure Analysis, and Metrology
  • Anticipate, comprehend, and implement laboratory operational requirements to support analysis for and production in 24x7 manufacturing environment including: Lab facilities and environmental monitoring and control, Lab safety and adherence to any state, national or international requirements
  • Develop and Lead Reliability program to support production lines, laboratories, and failure analysis
  • Lead a Quality Assurance team of Labs and Operations Technicians and Supervisors to support production 24x7, implementing consistent standard work and training
  • Establish and meet clear quality metrics and objectives for quality assurance activities in Energy business
  • Develop standard work, training, performance metrics and development plan for quality operations and Labs teams to ensure that all products meet specifications and quality issues are prevented or addressed immediately
  • Drive professional problem solving and nurture a data driven team with advanced statistical, analysis and visualization skills
  • Support a 24x7 global business with the needed sense of urgency to protect Tesla customers and business, while enabling employee engagement, career growth, work-life balance, commitment, and a fun place to work
  • Develop and motivate a high performing team of exceptional Engineers, Supervisors and Technicians
Requirements
  • Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials, Chemical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Six Sigma, CQE-ASQ or equivalent certifications are preferred
  • 5+years of experience in product development, quality system or program quality
  • 3+years of experience of Quality leadership in laboratory, manufacturing and/or designing new products for high volume operations. Experience with Solar or Electronics preferred.
  • Proven track record to build and lead a strong team in a 24x7 manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in teambuilding, leadership development, training, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Analysis, and Six Sigma tools and methodologies
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize in highly dynamic production environment

    • Expected Compensation
      • Supervisor QA Engineering - $81,600 - $122,400/annual salary
      • Associate Mgr QA Engineering - $98,600 - $147,900/annual salary
      + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
