Job Description:

Responsibilities:

* Cross-train on production and mobile equipment to provide coverage for vacations, absences, etc.

* Promote a safe work environment by adhering to safety, housekeeping, and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.

* Learn and perform multiple operator functions within the sawmill to expected performance levels.

* Learn to apply work processes and understand how they lead to increased productivity and reduced waste of useable products.

* Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.

* Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.

* Knowledge of sawmill equipment and machinery such as: Sorter, Trimmer, Edger, Curve Saw, Debarker, Stacker, and Head Rig.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

* High school diploma/GED preferred.

* Ability to understand, clearly communicate, and follow all safety rules and policies.

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

* Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

* Ability to make decisions quickly utilizing hand, eye, and foot coordination.

* Able to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.

* Experience in a sawmill, manufacturing, or other industrial environment preferred.

* Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

* Performs tasks such as walking, climbing steps/ladders, sitting, and standing for long periods.

* Able to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs.

* Ability to work outside in all conditions, in and around loud equipment.

* Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. throughout the work shift.
