Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Bankruptcy Attorney to join our firm as a remote contract attorney on an as-needed basis. This role involves working on complex bankruptcy cases, including handling adversary proceedings and claims on an as-needed basis in accordance with your schedule. You will collaborate with our principal attorney to develop strategies that ensure favorable outcomes for our clients.

This position is remote and requires you to be licensed and in good standing to practice law in the State of California.

Responsibilities

  • Manage bankruptcy matters on an as-needed basis;
  • Assist in bankruptcy litigation matters, including adversary proceedings;
  • Represent clients in bankruptcy court proceedings;
  • Handle creditor negotiations and settlement discussions;
  • Conduct legal research and provide counsel on the potential risks and benefits associated with various bankruptcy actions;
  • Work collaboratively with the firm's principal and other attorneys on larger, complex bankruptcy cases.
  • Stay up to date with relevant bankruptcy laws, regulations, and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the California State Bar with a clean disciplinary record
  • Minimum of three years of experience practicing bankruptcy law, with substantial experience in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 cases.
  • Proven ability to draft and file bankruptcy petitions, handle court appearances, and negotiate with creditors.
  • Strong knowledge of bankruptcy laws, including the U.S. Bankruptcy Code and Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure
  • Outstanding research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities
  • Solid organizational skills coupled with meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment

Compensation

$200 hourly DOE
