DescriptionJOB SUMMARYUnder general supervision of the Program Director of Adult Day Program and serves as a member of the day program team; to create and provide engaging virtual training resources, with an emphasis on Person Centered Thinking principles, for individuals with developmental disabilities by personally performing the following duties and other related job duties as assigned:ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Direct Service
  • Create virtual, person-centered curriculumthrough innovative, creative, and technology-based services to meet individual goals and objectives as identified in Individual Service Plans (ISP).
  • Design relevant curriculum opportunities for individuals by collaborating with Individual Success Coordinators to review the individuals' choices and preferences.
  • Create content that offers a variety of meaningful curriculum choices for individuals with services and supports provided which enable individuals to have real choices in where they live, work and socialize and that promote self-determination in the pursuit of their personal future.
  • Provide curriculum, supplies and written material to individuals and in a form or language they understand to facilitate understanding and successful participation.
  • Partner with staff designated to review and approve content proposals in preparation for readiness of virtual class material.
  • Determine and prepare for the details related to a virtual activity, to include updates for the website, materials needed and what materials can be mailed/delivered to individuals.
  • Lead relevant and meaningful classes as scheduled daily/weekly, by effectively facilitating participation and engagement.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the cultural preferences, values and lifestyles of individuals and families.
  • Ensure content remains fresh and meaningful as evaluated by individual engagement, attendance, and feedback.
  • Lead individualized curriculum if requested by a participant.
  • Maintain a tracking record of individual participation in virtual classes for tracking and billing purposes.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques, transfers, use of wheelchair lifts and tie-downs, and understand the consequences of non-compliance.
  • Perform maintenance and clean-up duties as required, i.e., dishes, floors, and wheelchairs.
  • Provide exceptional service both internally and externally.
  • Follow all safety procedures as outlined by the Injury, Illness and Prevention Program Safety Manual and understand the consequences of non-compliance.
  • Provide exceptional service both internally and externally.
  • Comply with privacy laws and requirements under HIPAA regulations and understand the consequences of non-compliance.
  • Typical work hours are Monday through Friday; 5 hours per day.
Meetings
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings on a weekly basis and others, as assigned.

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year teaching.
  • Experience working with individuals with physical and/or developmental disabilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Possession of a current valid California driver's license and a driving record that meets the standards of the agency.
  • Possession of a current certificate in Adult CPR with AED from an approved provider.
  • Possession of a current certificate in Basic First Aid from an approved provider.
  • Position requires current fingerprint clearance through the Department of Justice.
  • Position requires pre-placement physical.
  • Position requires proof of negative TB test within the past twelve (12) months.
  • Evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination status as documented by Vaccination Record and includes the passing of two (2) weeks from the last required dose.

  • Walk, sit, stand and lift or carry items not weighing more than 25 lbs.
  • Safely push adult individuals in wheelchairs consistent with the organization's safety policies.
  • Safely transfer, position and lift adult individuals using proper lifting techniques or devices, and lift teams, as appropriate for the specific individual and consistent with the organization's safety policies.
  • Safely use wheelchair lifts and perform tie-downs.
  • Talk and hear.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Occasionally, the employee must reach for items, crouch or kneel.
  • Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close to far vision, to include depth perception and visual accuracy.
