A System Safety Engineer job working REMOTELY from anywhere in the U.S. is currently available at Belcan. System Safety Engineering consultants are experts in systems safety methodologies and tools. Additionally, they have complex product and system development experience, with skills in systems engineering, technical project management, and team leadership. They are proactive self-starters who adapt and can orient to new situations quickly and apply logical problem-solving skills to solve customers' most challenging issues. Successful System Safety Engineering consultants typically have a foundation in systems design and have extensive experience in most phases of the product development life cycle. The nature of our engineering work and assignments varies depending on the specific customer engagements; our immediate needs are in the aerospace development field.System Safety Engineer job duties:Lead and perform safety analyses (Architecture Safety Assessments, Hazards Analysis, Failure Modes Effects Analysis, Process Hazard Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, System Safety Risk Assessment, etc.)Use the insights from your team engagements and analytic efforts to influence designs to improve the safety performance and avoid redesigns later in the lifecycleDocument results of safety analyses and risk assessmentsCoordinate System Safety products for multiple subsystems to ensure consistency and complete coverageProvide advice and counsel on pertinent safety-related regulations, standards, and processesContribute and add value to client projects in the areas of requirements analysis and management; system architecture and design; system integration, system verification and validation; technical program management, cross-functional leadership, technical issue resolution, or product managementUse engineering and program management principles to develop an approach tailored to the need, the system, the customer, and the development organizationDevelop and nurture long term customer relationshipsRecognize client needs that may lead to additional opportunitiesKeep abreast of current and new technologies and tools related to your field (e.g. Agile development methods, Model-Based Systems Engineering, etc.)Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, Mathematics or related scientific degree7+ years systems safety analysis experience in a safety-critical environmentExperience and proficiency with utilizing MIL-STD-882E, AMCOMR 385-17, AMACC Revision A Change 1Experience generating software safety documentation (I.E Safety Hazard Causal Factor Analysis(HCFA), Safety Critical Function Thread Analysis (SCFTA))Experience with using MBSE tools (such as Cameo) to influence the safety of the design & support your analysesExperience working in complex system development and/or sustaining projects in a technical and/or system engineering capacityProficiency in Systems Engineering and Project Management methods and practical applicationUS Citizenship onlyYou are an ideal candidate if you also have:Experience working in Aerospace or other regulated industries such as defense, medicalKnowledge of hardware, software, or system certification processesExperience developing to standards DO-178C, RTCA DO-254.Aptitude to work collaboratively and drive consensus and alignment within and across organizational boundariesAbility to influence executives, key-decision-makers and highly technical resourcesStrong verbal and written communication skillsMaster's Degree in engineering, or the SciencesWe provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary range of $130,000 to $150,000. Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
