Summary:
As an entry-level Repairman you will be trained in Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company's Safety, Operation and Maintenance procedures related to plant and pipeline facilities and equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting in shutting down sections of pipeline, pipeline installations and repairs; performing leak surveys and operation of flame ionization detection equipment, effective use hand, power and specialty tools; maintenance of equipment and vehicles, the use of a computer and associated company applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Has a working knowledge of Operations & Maintenance Plan and Standard Operating Procedures.
* Has a working knowledge of both the Company Emergency Plan in the Operations & Maintenance Plan and the location-specific emergency plan.
* Has a working knowledge of the Employee Safety & Health Manual and adheres to safety rules and procedures.
* Knows how to use the Material Safety Data Sheets (Right-to-Know).
* Has a working knowledge of the Environmental Procedures Manual and follows procedures concerning handling and transport of flammable and environmentally sensitive materials.
* Uses hand and power tools and paint spray equipment according to company procedures and manufacturer's guidelines.
* Able to identify pipe and pipe fittings as to size, description and specifications.
* Knows proper method of making flange connections.
* Has operating knowledge and skills regarding equipment used for pipeline work.
* Assists in all phases of a shut-down of a section of pipeline.
* Performs leakage surveys and operates flame ionization detection equipment.
* Able to identify company pipelines as to location and description with the aid of alignment sheets, pipe locator, probing bar, digging the line out and measuring the OD of the pipe.
* Communicates with supervision and other personnel in job-related situations and matters.
* Operates and maintains company vehicles and other equipment in accordance with company guidelines and manufacturer published operating manual.
* Completes certain routine administrative duties such as Reports of Time worked, Expense Accounts, Mileage Reports and Accident Reports.
* Performs sundry duties related to pipeline operations and maintenance as assigned by supervision.
Requirements:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Should have the physical abilities required to perform the essential elements of the position including shoveling, painting, heavy lifting, working in extreme high and low temperatures and general manual labor.
* Must possess a current driver's license.
* The position is subject to call out during off-duty hours, including the weekend.
* The position will require up to 70-80% travel.
* Should have the ability to read and understand piping schematics, drawings and operating procedures.
* The successful candidate will be required to progress to a skilled position within three years.
* Must be willing to work overtime and callouts.
* Candidate must live within 50 miles of the compressor station located at 29115 Metcalf Road, Louisburg, KS 66053.

* Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
* Driving, walking, and standing frequently.
* Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting.
* Working in an operational setting that may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, which will require appropriate personal protective equipment.
