HIRING RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS EXPECTED TO BE $20.86-$24.54/HOUR. The full salary range for this position is $20.86-$28.16/HOUR. This position is full time with benefits and is an hourly position.

Typical schedule is Monday through Friday days, with five (5) eight (8) hour shifts.

You must be able to pass an extensive background check including but not limited to: criminal history search, credit check and polygraph examination.

The Recruitment Timeline is as Follows (expected timeline but may change):

* 12/31/24 - 1/17/25- Accepting Applications and Typing Tests

* 1/29/25 - Spark (Video) Interview Deadline

* 02/10/25 - Oral Boards (Please hold in your calendar)

* 2/14/25 - Chiefs Interview (Please hold in your calendar)

* 2/14/25 - Backgrounds begin (Takes approximately 4 weeks to complete)

* Tentative hire date: 3/17/25 or 3/31/25

This position, exercising a high degree of discretion, trust and confidence, is responsible for performing a variety of moderately complex duties to provide support to the Records Section, Communications Section, Patrol, as well as provides customer service to citizens in person and on the phone. This position performs front desk tasks, car seat inspections, report writing, fingerprinting, VIN verifications, and call taking for police calls for service. This position also requires considerable data entry into the department's computer aided dispatch and records management systems. Employees in this classification must be able to exercise considerable judgment within established organizational values, policies, and procedures to provide for the safety of citizens, effective service delivery, and quality customer service.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. * Answers telephone calls and assesses the nature of the call; makes decisions as to the appropriate course of action from the information received.

* Receives citizen complaints of crime and other incidents (to include accidents; lost property; found property; thefts; criminal mischief) over the telephone and in person to document the information in official police reports

* Provides quality customer service; serves as front desk receptionist.

* Performs Child Safety Seat inspections.

* Assists with various data entry into the RMS (Records Management System).

* Receives, processes and responds to requests for information from internal and external departments and members of the public; inputs data into various sources.

* Performs VIN number verifications and fingerprints as necessary.

* Collects applicable fees and keeps an accurate accounting of these monies.

* Answers questions of a general nature from citizens or other agencies and facilitates requests.

* Performs a variety of general administrative tasks.

* Participates in and complies with the department Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

* Ability to pass a pre-employment background check including but not limited to: criminal history search, credit check and polygraph examination

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by one (1) year of related experience.

Ability to type 30 wpm accurately.

Possession of or ability to obtain CCIC certification within six (6) months of employment.

Possession of or ability to obtain Child Safety Seat Certification within one (1) year of employment.

A combination of education and experience to provide for the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

* Ability to operate computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes.

* Ability to provide a positive customer service attitude towards all people entering the facility or by telephone.

Tools & Equipment

Requires frequent use of general office equipment, computer, computer software, and an automobile.

Physical Demands

Requires regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, handling, feeling or operating objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Requires occasionally reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing. Requires moderate physical activity with heavy lifting, up to twenty (20) pounds. Requires close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus, allowing a broad field of vision. Employee must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be understood.

Environment

Work is frequently performed in a climate-controlled office environment. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate, with occasional high levels and vibrations.
