The Information Technology (IT) group of the Advanced Photon Source Engineering Support Division at Argonne is looking for a research aide student to assist Software Engineer (IT staff) in the following activities:
- Design and development dynamic Web interface with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, extJS libraries
- Assist in the development of software projects as determined by IT staff
- Fix bugs and enhance existing applications
Required qualifications include:
- Good knowledge of and some experience in designing and creating dynamic web interfaces with HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Flask, jQuery, and Bootstrap
- Good knowledge and some experience with Object Oriented programming with Python and PHP, and other computer languages such as Linux scripts, SQL, etc.
- Good knowledge in data structures and relational database concepts
- Good trouble shooting and problem solving skills
- Fast learner for new technologies
- Basic knowledge of networking, Linux and Windows operating systems, and PC hardware
Education and Experience Requirements•Must be currently enrolled full-time at an accredited institution and have completed at least one semester of schooling by the start of the program.•Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.•Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.•If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test.•Must complete a satisfactory background check.
