The successful applicant must have a high school diploma or GED with work experience in an office environment. Professional experience in a Human Resources environment is a plus. This is a part-time position which will work 5 days a week for a maximum of 25 hours per week, and carries no benefits. Strong experience in Microsoft Office products is preferred. Some examples of work to be performed are:
  • Maintains confidential personnel files for approximately 1,400 full-time employees, 450 to 500 part-time and seasonal employees, 1,300 pensioners and inactive personnel files.
  • Maintains employment application files.
  • Archives files in accordance with established records retention schedules.
  • Scans and retrieves documents in accordance with the document imaging project guidelines.
  • Supports the Training team with Creating training scheduled, room reservations verifying instructors, course enrollment, certificate creation, maintaining the course attendance database and managing employee recognition/ engagement programs.
  • Assists with answering telephones and directing callers, answering routine inquiries and scheduling.
  • Assists with drafting and revising policies, procedures, examinations, class specifications, contract language, and legislation for County Council.
  • Assists by shredding, copying, opening and distributing mail, preparing mailings and other manual clerical tasks as needed.
  • Assist with recruitment and applicant screening activities, administers examinations and compiles eligible lists.
  • Preforms various administrative tasks to ensure consistent applications of all policies and procedures
  • Assists with classification reviews to determine the proper classification of positions, prepares necessary reports, and makes recommendations for changes when necessary.
  • Reviews, researches, and compares Union job titles/position history with PERB Certifications. Develops spreadsheets to display research results for further review.
  • Prepares reports and records concerning recruitment activities, applicant screening results and testing procedures.
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Assistant in the generation and distribution of various correspondence to applicants and potential employee candidates
  • Will be asked to assist other teams as needs arise within the office
