Research And Development SpecialistThe Research and Development Specialist plays a pivotal role in developing and scaling up manufacturing processes for two-piece hardshell capsule dietary supplements. - Develop and scale up manufacturing processes for two-piece hardshell capsule dietary supplements.
- Adjust formulas to meet specifications and research ingredients for nutritional value, stability, and compatibility.
- Lead manufacturing of lab, pilot, pivotal, and commercial scale batches following documented procedures.
- Engage with teams from Marketing, Purchasing, Engineering, QA, Nutrition, and Regulatory to ensure safe, legal, and robust product designs.
- Provide input on study designs, document development, equipment selection, and process improvements.
- Assist with installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment for capsule manufacturing.
- Design, collect, and analyze data to make recommendations on yield, production throughput, product consistency, and other factors.
- Develop dietary supplements following 21 CFR 111, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
- Maintain accurate records of all completed tasks.
- Initiate investigations, review data, and train manufacturing personnel.
- Contribute to new product specifications and evaluate new formulation technologies.
- Support project timelines and objectives, ensuring effective communication with internal and external teams.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of R&D experience in the dietary supplement industry.
- Required experience in oral solid dosage manufacturing (capsules and tablets).
- Knowledge of other dosage forms, such as powders and liquids, is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of vitamin chemistry, nutrition, and regulatory requirements, including familiarity with 21 CFR 111 and other relevant guidelines.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of routine job responsibilities and perform tasks requiring standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
- Adherence to the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies and procedures.
- Ability to wear all PPE furnished when required or needed to perform work properly and safely.
Working hours & Benefits:
- Working hours: full-time from 8:00 AM till 4:30 PM (including 30 minutes unpaid lunch break), Monday to Friday.
