Job Description:

This full-time research assistant position is critical to research conducted in the Minority Stress & Trauma Lab. Specific projects involve a sample of victimized SMW where we will examine the preliminary efficacy of an expressive writing intervention and test a model in which minority stressors predict physiological stress reactivity which in turn predict PTSD symptoms and alcohol use and related outcomes (e.g., alcohol craving). Other studies involve conducting a needs assessment of local LGBTQ+ survivors, LGBTQ+ Veterans, and interviewing providers.

Work will include collecting physiological, cross-sectional, longitudinal, and qualitative data, running lab participants, managing IRB protocols, helping with grant management, training participants, managing email, paying and retaining participants, coordinating weekly lab meetings, assisting with submitting research findings for conferences and peer-reviewed publications, and translating research findings into clinical practice. Work with Dr. Scheer to coordinate grant milestones, contribute to annual grant reports, and conduct research with an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's or master's degree in an area of health, social, or behavioral sciences.

* Prior experience and interest in conducting research in the field of social science and health.

* Demonstrated evidence of organizational skills and attention to detail.

* Strong writing and interpersonal skills.

* Demonstrated experience and interest in conducting quantitative and qualitative data analyses.

Job Specific Qualifications

* Demonstrated skills and interest in working in research with trauma-exposed and marginalized populations, including women, LGBTQ populations, people living in poverty, immigrant populations, Veterans, and racial/ethnic minority populations.

Responsibilities

* Grant management, work with Dr. Scheer to coordinate grant milestones and contribute to annual grant reports.

* Conducting literature reviews, preparing manuscripts, and conference presentations.

* Collecting, managing, and analyzing data.

* Supervising undergraduate research assistants.

* Recruiting and retaining participants.
