What is the Opportunity?
Research Associate responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the Biotechnology sector
What will you do?
* Develop an expertise in the Biotechnology sector
* Assist in the development and detailed modeling of company specific financial models
* Coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases
* Provide research support to analyst as required
* Incumbent is in the process of developing core Research Associate skills
* Support and answer client queries as they relate to the sector
* Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business
* Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities
* Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.
What do you need to succeed?
Basic Qualifications
* PhD, MD, or similar advanced degree in life sciences field relevant to therapeutics
* NYSE Licensing Requirements - Series 7, 63, 86 & 87, SIE
Other Required Qualifications:
* 1-2 years of work experience in a non-academic setting such as biopharma industry/drug development, life sciences consulting, or investment banking is a plus
* Familiarity with accounting and financial modeling
* Previous exposure to the biopharmaceuticals sector
* Efficient writing capabilities
* Strong computer skills (Excel) with ability to quickly learn new platforms
* Detail oriented with solid analytical skills and ability to synthesize data points into trends beyond the mainstream
* Energetic, self-motivated and an ability to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time
* Demonstrated passion for equity/financial markets
* Prior sell-side equity research experience in biotechnology, pharma, or specialty pharmaceuticals is a plus
* Good understanding of financial/stock market
* Knowledge of Wolters Kluwer software and IMS are a plus

* Internal clients including sales and trading
* External clients as required

* The work environment is based on a office/trading floor, thus little physical effort is required

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $100,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
