Position Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Research Associate with a strong chemistry background to join our R&D group. The successful candidate will contribute to the development and optimization of the iRiS platform, focusing on surface chemistry, materials development, and assay performance. This role requires hands-on laboratory work, data analysis, and collaboration across teams to support our technology's continued innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and evaluate surface functionalization and immobilization chemistries for biosensor applications.
- Optimize and characterize materials and surface chemistries to enhance sensor performance and reproducibility.
- Conduct experiments to test molecular interactions and validate assay designs using various analytical techniques.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate chemical components with biological and engineering systems.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental work and contribute to technical reports and presentations.
- Troubleshoot experimental challenges and develop innovative solutions to improve workflows and product performance.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including biosensors, analytical tools, and instrumentation for surface characterization.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in surface chemistry and materials science to bring innovative approaches to the team.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience in a research or R&D laboratory setting (academic or industry).
- Hands-on experience with surface chemistry, materials characterization, or analytical chemistry techniques is highly desirable.
- Experience with surface immobilization techniques for biomolecules (e.g., SAMs, click chemistry, or polymer coatings).
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with biosensor technologies and applications in molecular interaction analysis.
- Knowledge of kinetics and thermodynamics of molecular binding interactions.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, including spectroscopy, chromatography, and surface analysis tools (e.g., FTIR, XPS, AFM).
- Understanding of product development workflows in the context of analytical and biosensor platforms.
