The Research Associate I, Downstream Process Development will contribute to the development of downstream processes for different gene therapy programs. The individual will understand downstream unit operations such as chromatography, tangential flow filtration and depth filtration. The candidate will be primarily responsible for executing laboratory studies related to process development, process understanding and scale up. The successful candidate will support experimental setup and laboratory management activities in addition to supporting drafting of batch records, reports, and data worksheets. This role will sit onsite at AskBio headquarters in Research Triangle Park, RTP, NC.

Responsibilities

* Apply laboratory experience to execute depth filtration, tangential flow filtration and chromatography unit operations with minimal supervision.

* Record experimental activities and data in batch records as per Good Documentation Practices.

* Support writing technical documentation such as protocols and reports under guidance of program leads.

* Perform experimental setup and post execution activities including CIP procedures, buffer preparation, equipment calibration, sample labelling and analytical sample submissions.

* Support maintenance of analytical database by data entry and verification.

* Work in a team setting as well as independently on different programs to meet the deliverables under the scheduled timelines.

* Actively participate as a member of multifunctional project teams

Minimum Requirements:

* BS degree in Biology/Biochemistry/Chemistry/Chemical Engineering

* Basic knowledge of depth filtration, chromatography and tangential flow filtration unit operations for biologics purification

* Experience working in team setting as well as on individual projects

* Experience in Good Documentation Practices

Preferred Skills & Experience:

* Hands on lab experience preferably in downstream unit operations

* Lab based internship or academic laboratory work experience
