About the Company - Akston Biosciences Corporation invents, develops, and manufactures breakthrough protein therapeutics for companion animal health. We specialize in bringing protein therapeutics through the major phases of development, faster, more cost-effectively, and with a higher likelihood of success. We invent novel therapeutics using our Ambifect® Fc-fusion platform. We develop and manufacture our therapeutics in our Animal Health protein manufacturing facility.
About the Role - Akston is looking for a highly motivated and energetic Research Associate I/II to join our dynamic and diverse R&D team. In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting our efforts to develop innovative biologic therapies. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, translating strategic goals into actionable plans. Experience with biological entities (e.g., fusion proteins and monoclonal antibodies) is essential. A background in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, chemical biology, chemical engineering, molecular biology or related fields is highly desirable.
Responsibilities -
Qualifications - A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biology, Molecular Biology, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related field and 0 – 3 years of work experience, or a master's degree in related field with 0 – 2 years of work experience in biotech or pharmaceutical sector is required. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Required Skills - Hands-on experience with biologic molecules. Experience in bioassays, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, and Western blotting. Familiarity with laboratory techniques such as protein purification and characterization. Experience with protein analytical methods such as HPLC (SE-HPLC, RP-HPLC). Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to design experiments.
Preferred Skills - Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including scientists from different fields (e.g., biologists, chemists, engineers). Familiarity with laboratory management software and data analysis tools (e.g., GraphPad, Excel, or other data visualization programs). Enthusiasm and initiative to learn new technologies and contribute to innovative projects. Flexibility and adaptability to changing project needs and priorities. Familiarity with GLP requirements.
Pay range and compensation package - Pay commensurate with skills/experience, stock option plan, and eligibility for company medical plan.
