ION is recruiting a Research Assistant I (RA-I) to join our Biology R&D team in San Marcos, TX. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists to validate and/or develop fluorescence-based cellular assays and research tools. The RA-I will be primarily responsible for conducting independent, cell-based experiments using established or modified protocols.
Responsibilities
Conduct ion channel and other cell-based assays critical for product validation and new product development using a range of fluorescence-based methods and advanced instrumentation.
Maintain cell cultures following aseptic best practices and prepare well plates for experiments.
Create graphics, reports, and presentations to document and share experimental results.
Assist in research design. Modify and plan research experiments and procedures. Collaborate with other scientists to achieve experimental goals, as needed.
Conduct literature searches to help motivate new projects and support innovation initiatives.
Perform general lab maintenance including equipment upkeep, lab cleanliness, and solution/reagent preparation.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a life science or bioengineering field is required.
Prior work in a BSL-2 lab (1 years) with a strong grasp of mammalian cell culture techniques is required.
Experience using plate readers and fluorescent dyes for cell-based assays is preferred.
