Research Associate II—Frederick, MD
Responsibilities:
Characterization and testing of the microbiological and biochemical activity of purified protein.
- Perform microbiological assays in a BSL2 laboratory setting
- Perform routine biochemical experiments for protein and enzymatic activity analysis
- Perform ELISA assays and other immunoassays
- Collect, analyze, and summarize data using statistical software programs including Graphpad Prism and MS Office Programs
- Perform laboratory maintenance such as maintaining and calibrating equipment and ordering and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies
- Maintain detailed online laboratory notebooks
- Create and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and contribute to writing manuscripts and presentations
- Development of novel cell-based assays and immunoassays
- Maintain mammalian cell cultures and develop cell-based assays
- Implement novel immunoassays and support development of quality assurance SOPs
Qualifications of the Research Associate II include:
- Bachelor of Science in biological sciences and/or related field such as biology, chemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, etc.
- Strong organizational skills and detail oriented approach to planning, conducting experiments, analyzing data, and troubleshooting
- 2+ years of experience working in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), GLP (Good Laboratory Practice), and/or BSL-2 environment
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, ELISA assays, formulations, microbiology, and micro pipetting
- Be able to work independently in a laboratory setting and collaborate with other research personnel
