Job Description:
Position Title: Research Associate, Pre-Clinical Technologist 1Department: 9010|NIRC AdministrationResponsibilities:TheResearch Associate, Pre-Clinical Technologist 1 will independently conduct inlife procedures utilizing non-human primates and/or rodent models of infectiousstudies, nutrition, cardiovascular, efficacy, immunogenicity, pharmacodynamicsand pharmacokinetics.Other duties toinclude:
  • In life study task performance including diversified dose administration, biological sample and tissue collections in compliance with NIRC Standard Operating Procedures and study specific research protocols.
  • Conduct acclimation training for pole and collar restrainer system. Apply species specific affiliated behavior and positive reinforcement techniques to facilitate model develop for alert studies.
  • Demonstrate and utilize knowledge of non-human primates' species specific normal behavior and physical attributes and condition in order to effectively execute daily observations to detect the presence of disease, illness, distress and/or variance from normal behavior, recognize adverse responses to test article, etc.; responsible for reporting findings to veterinarian and study director, if applicable.
  • Evaluation of administration sites for evidence of reactions including redness, erythema, swelling Analyzing study data and interpret results.
  • Maintaining a detailed log of study related activities.
  • Clean, maintain and prepare supplies and work areas.
  • Setup, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory and field equipment.
  • Measure or weigh compounds and solutions for use in testing or animal feed.
  • Isolate, identify and prepare primate specimens for examination.
  • Monitor and observe studies, concurrent recording of raw data facilitating reconstruction and interpretation per NIRC SOPs.
  • Effectively communicate with other applicable personnel to ensure husbandry, veterinary, and behavioral needs of study animals are met.
  • When applicable provide specified feeding to non-human primates
Qualifications:Required Qualifications:-Bachelorof Science degree or equivalent degree with scientific emphasis.-Four years' experience in veterinary/animal care and/or contract research setting may be substituted for the degree.Preferred Qualifications: -Previousexperience in a contract research setting is preferable.Job Ad# (req2580)
