What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)
- Research utility termination warnings, potential missing bills, and late fees to determine necessary actions
- Contact utility vendors to verify balances due and negotiate payment arrangements
- Prepare written correspondence to vendors to resolve shut-off possibilities and request replacement bills
- Process payment research items and work closely with internal staff and vendors to resolve discrepancies
- Maintain accurate documentation of research and production task times, adhering to departmental standards
What Is Required (Qualifications)
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 6 months of previous telephone experience in customer service or collections
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
- General knowledge of the principles and practices of the utility billing process
