SUMMARY

Apply computational methods to create new, modified, and/or improved designs using advanced analysis tools for the development of roll tooling designs. Provide engineering services to other departments regarding the scientific principles of roll forming.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Analyze product and equipment specifications to develop roll tooling designs. Employ knowledge of engineering principles and physical simulation to optimize the forming of general parts shapes as it applies to this industry.

* Complete complex design and analysis projects on time.

* Evaluate designs with due regard to safety, performance, and ease of fabrication and operation.

* Provide engineering services to manufacturing, assembly, tryout, and/or customers as required.

* Independently manage personal workload and report delays or setbacks to manager.

* Identify missing or vague information prior to the start of a project.

* Make economical decisions without sacrificing product or process integrity.

* Review project performance and resource constraint issues, and involve project management to create corrective action plans.

* Communicate with project engineers, department and project managers, sales and service, manufacturing, assembly, tryout, etc. to accurately define, understand, and execute the specific requirements of assigned projects from concept through field completion.

* Guide technical and commercial risk analysis, project planning, etc. for each assigned project and identify opportunities for improvement at the completion of each project.

* Lead projects in absence of department or project managers.

* Provide training and mentoring to other engineers and technicians, and participate actively in relevant Company mentoring, coaching, and personal improvement programs.

* Demonstrate Bradbury values and beliefs and encourage others to do the same.

* Invest personal time learning, investigating, and training related to best practices and emerging technologies in the metal forming industry.

* Analyze and understand technical publications to share new knowledge within the company.

* Travel as needed for engineering trips, training, etc.

* Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED/PREFERRED

* Proficiency in AutoCad and Inventor, or similar design software.

* Capable of becoming a subject matter expert using simulation tools like Copra, MSC Marc, etc.

* Ability to apply advanced mathematics and mechanical engineering concepts to solve problems.

* Able to respond to instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

* Broad shop knowledge including metal machining and manufacturing processes.

* Team leadership as a key member of a project's Core Engineering Team.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED/PREFERRED

* M.S. or B.S. in mechanical, industrial, software, or equivalent engineering field with emphasis on mechanics of materials, process design, or simulation programs.

* Experience with computational analysis methods (e.g. FEA, multibody dynamics) in programs like Nastran, Abaqus, Adams, Dynaform, Copra, etc.
