The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Research Manager will play a pivotal role within the senior leadership team of the Emergency Medicine Research division. Responsibilities encompass a wide array of duties aimed at coordinating clinical research activities, overseeing Research Coordinators and Research Interns, fostering professional development, implementing process enhancements, ensuring patient safety, and cultivating positive external relationships. Reporting directly to the Director of Research Administration, the Research Manager will be instrumental in driving excellence in clinical research.

Responsibilities

Staffing

* Evaluate and advocate for new or replacement positions, including screening and selection of candidates.

* Facilitate the onboarding and training process for Research Coordinators, collaborating with HR representatives for necessary medical surveillance and other HR-related procedures.

* Conduct annual performance reviews and establish ongoing performance goals for all Research Coordinators.

* Lead recruitment efforts for Research Interns including, reviewing, screening, interviewing, and scheduling HR activities.

* Manage the offboarding process for departing staff members.

Supervision and Training

* Provide direct daily supervision and guidance to Research Coordinators and Research Interns to optimize operational efficiency.

* Allocate workloads and protocol assignments effectively.

* Establish quality control measures to ensure accuracy in data reporting.

* Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to prepare Research Coordinators for monitoring and auditing visits.

* Enhance training and development programs based on the ACRP Core Competency Guidelines for Clinical Research Coordinators

* Coordinate Research Intern lectures with the Research Administrative Coordinator.

* Lead biannual Research Intern orientations.

* Obtain biannual Research Intern evaluations.

* Manage recognition programs.

* Facilitating the monthly schedules for Research Coordinators to ensure fairness and equity.

Research Activities

* Maintain a comprehensive understanding of research protocols, including criteria, procedures, methodologies, timelines, and outcome variables.

* Provide Research Coordinator oversight of sample collection, processing, and storage activities.

* Work in tandem with the Quality Assurance Manager to address deviations and adverse events, ensuring compliance with IRB regulations.

* Oversee patient incentive programs, including ordering, distribution, and reconciliation

* Develop and maintain dashboards tracking study recruitment, subject enrollment, and overall study progress.

PECARN

* In collaboration with the Director, of Research Administration, the Research Manager will provide administrative coordination for PECARN meetings and events.

* Serve as a member of the PECARN Feasibility and Budget subcommittee, preparing reports, and updates as required.

* Compile data for PECARN progress reports.

* Assist with other PECARN and divisional research duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in education and experience required.

* 4 years of related experience is required (preferably within clinical research).

Other Requirements

* Strong leadership with a strong track record of managing high-performing teams; with demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts.

* Proficiency in project management.

* Knowledge of regulatory requirements and ethical standards in clinical research.

* Ability to set priorities and exercise sound judgment.

* Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately directly with department chairs and other senior principal investigators. Must be able to communicate effectively on a technical level with study personnel.

* Must be detail-oriented, possess analytical skills, and be highly organized.

* Must possess advanced Excel skills, including familiarity with the creation and use of complex pivot tables, lookup functions, and other features for formatting, manipulating, and analyzing data.
