Main Objective:
Manages with autonomy and independent judgement the daily activities of the Department of Orthopedic Research that supports critical operations and functions. Responsible for departmental strategic development and surgeon collaborations. Spearhead key inter- and intra-departmental initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the global research department to develop, implement and execute on critical departmental initiatives, and projects. Track and report on metrics and deliverables to ensure progress and success of initiatives.
- Support scientific evidence initiatives, partnering with stakeholders (i.e, Product Management, Regulatory, Strategic Development, etc.) to identify research needs or gaps and devise strategies to meet their goals.
- Execute on the scientific communication strategy of the department, identifying channels to communicate available resources, new publications, and enhancements to stakeholders, such as creating the quarterly research newsletters.
- Lead and support research operations projects in partnership with other departments (Compliance, Finance, Medical Education). Adapt to evolving priorities and provide support for departmental initiatives.
- Support the review and approval process of research requests routing through our Global Grants Committee
- Facilitate, prepare materials, and lead global monthly research stakeholder meetings to discuss ongoing research projects and cross-functional collaboration
- Conduct competitive benchmarking and market analysis to inform new business initiatives
- Prepare comprehensive reports and metrics for study reviews, compliance, finance, and presentation purposes
- Create and lead presentations on behalf of the research department for internal and external meetings and events.
- Be a knowledgeable resource in matters related to the global operations of the department
- 10% business travel, including international.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree required, preferably in life sciences related field. Masters degree preferred
- Minimum of 1 year experience in orthopedic research, medical device, or health care field required
- Professional experience in project management and research operations in healthcare industry preferred.
- Strong writing, analytical, and organizational skills required.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
- Proficient software skills: Word/ Excel/ Power Point/.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team, with experience with cross-functional teams
- Self-motivated, organized and accurate in daily management of activities
- Pronounced sense of responsibility
- Skilled in working with different functions and effectively coordinates their activities to achieve desired results
- High level of customer orientation
