Research Specialist - Zebrafish Health, Genetics, and BehaviorSummaryAt InVivo Biosystems, we specialize in leveraging advanced model organisms like zebrafish and C. elegans to accelerate drug discovery and development. By combining cutting-edge genetic tools, phenotyping techniques, and innovative technologies, we empower researchers to uncover new insights into human diseases and potential therapies. We're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Specialist to join our team and contribute to advancing zebrafish research.As the subject matter expert on zebrafish health, genetics, and behavior, you'll provide expertise to the husbandry team, support molecular biology and injection projects, and collaborate across a multidisciplinary team.If you are passionate about impactful bench work and excited to contribute to groundbreaking zebrafish research, this role is for you!InVivo Biosystems will not accept candidates from staffing agencies or recruiters for this position.What You'll be Doing:
  • Perform Hands-On Research: Execute high-quality bench work, including zebrafish injections, molecular biology techniques, and phenotyping studies.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with biologists, engineers, and other collaborators to advance the FishCam project and other initiatives.
  • Support Zebrafish Health and Behavior: Serve as a resource to the husbandry team, providing expertise on animal health, behavior, and genetics.
  • Develop and Execute Research Plans: Contribute to research designs, timelines, and experiments, adapting as needed to meet project goals.
  • Ensure High-Quality Data: Maintain accurate and organized records, analyze data, and prepare clear, concise reports.
  • Contribute to Innovation: Help develop protocols, SOPs, and experimental workflows to support the team's success.
  • Promote Safety and Integrity: Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and uphold scientific integrity.

In addition, successful candidates will have the following:QualificationsEducation & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in molecular biology, genetics, bioengineering, or a related field with 4+ years of directly relevant research experience.
  • OR Master's degree in a related field with 2-4 years of experience.
  • OR Ph.D. in a related field with 1-2 years of experience.
Zebrafish Expertise and Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with zebrafish is required, including proficiency in zebrafish injections, molecular biology techniques, and zebrafish handling.Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated ability to address complex, multifactorial problems with creativity and critical thinking.Strong Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey findings clearly.Organization & Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and work autonomously.Data Analysis: Skilled in analyzing and summarizing complex scientific data.Preferred Experience:
  • Industry or commercial laboratory experience.
  • Experience with zebrafish genetics
  • Experience with molecular, cellular, or behavioral zebrafish assays.
