Employee's Effective Start Date 07/01/2024 If this is a Temporary position, provide end date or enter N/A for any other position type. 12/14/2024 Minimum Qualifications* Education: PhD in physics, material science, chemistry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.* 2-4 years of extensive hands-on use and operation of all aspects of SPM (scanning probe microscopes), and related hardware and software. UHV SPM and RHK brands and models preferred.* Hands-on experience building and maintaining UHV and cryogenic SPMs is strongly preferred.* Experience with atomic resolution NCAFM in UHV and cryogenic environments strongly preferred.* Knowledge of and experience with other surface science analytical instruments and deposition tool is helpful.* Able to effectively demonstrate and support complex hardware and software.Desired Qualifications Position PurposeThe Nano-imaging Lab at Oakland University research techniques and methods for integratedUHV AFM/STM surface science systems.Job Duties1. Work with partner scientists to assemble, test, and install experimental Scanning ProbeMicroscopes in labs performing unique research.2. Assist in generating documentation and publications on new nano-imaging systems andresearch findings obtained using these new systems.3. Provide training, deliver technical presentations at professional conferences, and assess andcompare needs and existing solutions.4.
