Job Title: Resident Advocate Night B
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Department: Client Services Program Reports to: Shelter ManagerEffective Date: Pay Rate: $41,000 per year / $19.71 per hour
Position Overview:Resident Advocate Night B is responsible for overseeing and providing direct support to victims of domestic and sexual violence during assigned shifts. Perform related tasks as assigned by the Shelter Manager.
HOURS: 32 hours weekly minimum or as necessary to achieve program objectives, responsibilities, and tasks.
Work Schedule to include Sunday 12 AM-8 AM, Monday/Tuesday, Wednesday/Thursday/Friday OFF, and Saturday 12 AM-8 AMHowever, the Standard Schedule may be flexible to achieve program objectives, tasks, activities, and responsibilities and effectively document outcome measures and variances.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Provide crisis intervention assistance to current residents and hotline callers.
- Provide orientation to residents regarding all shelter guidelines and procedures and ensure adherence to those guidelines.
- Oversee the safety, security, and general welfare of residents and the shelter facility during assigned shift.
- Maintain confidentiality pertaining to the shelter facility's records, residents, and locale.
- Ensure all donations are accepted, recorded, and put away in proper storage areas.
- Attending and contributing to shelter and combined staff meetings.
- Oversee the cleanliness of the shelter, including checking chores and reassigning as needed.
- Document pertinent information in client files and communication log.
- Submit maintenance requests for equipment and building repairs.
- Check call notes and retrieve client messages.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:- Entry-level position, no additional required.
Education and Other Requirements- Minimum 4-year degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Human Services, or comparable experience.
- Must pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle report, and reference checks.
- Must have a clean driving record/provide proof of automobile insurance coverage/be insurable/ have at least three years of verifiable driving experience.
- Ability to lift/carry/move a minimum of 40 lbs. for an extended distance.
Job-Specific Competencies:- Demonstrate leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills in a manner that encourages and empowers residents to seek remedies for positive change.
- Computer knowledge of programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills to assist with in-the-moment issues or crises.
- Sensitivity regarding the issues of family violence and sexual assault.
