Resident Companion Schedule: Monday through Friday 7am to 3pm, or 8am to 4pm. Overview:Bronxwood Assisted Living Facility is seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Resident Companion. As a Resident Companion, you will play a vital role in providing support and assistance to our residents during their daily activities. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and comfortable transportation of residents. Responsibilities:- Safely and gently escort residents to and from various locations within the assisted living facility, such as dining areas, activity rooms, therapy sessions, and medical appointments.- Assist residents with mobility devices, such as walkers or wheelchairs, as needed.- Provide a friendly and empathetic presence, offering emotional support and companionship to residents during their journeys.- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with residents, their families, and staff members.- Communicate effectively with nursing and caregiving staff to ensure the timely and efficient movement of residents.- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols to prevent any accidents or injuries during transportation.- Report any concerns or changes in a resident's condition to the appropriate staff members.- Maintain confidentiality and respect residents' privacy at all times.- Participate in ongoing training and education to enhance knowledge and skills related to patient care and safety. Qualifications:- Previous experience working in a healthcare or senior care setting is preferred.- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.- Compassionate and patient-oriented mindset.- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including pushing wheelchairs and assisting residents with mobility.- Strong organizational and time management skills.- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is an asset.- Must pass a background check and drug screening. Working Conditions:- The position of Resident companion requires standing, walking, and pushing residents for extended periods.- The role may involve exposure to various healthcare settings and environments within the assisted living facility.- Patient Escorts may need to lift or assist in lifting residents when necessary.- The job may require working during evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the facility's needs.
