Resident Consultant for NYCHA MonitorshipTitle: Resident Consultant for NYCHA MonitorshipRate: $50/hourPlease read this posting carefully to make certain you meet the qualification requirements before applying to this position.Description of Consultant Role:The NYCHA monitorship was created by agreement between the federal government, New York City, and NYCHA as part of a legal settlement. The monitorship oversees whether NYCHA is meeting the promises it made to improve living conditions for NYCHA residents. Resident engagement is a critical part of the work of the federal monitors.NYCHA is the nation's largest public housing authority, with an operating budget of $3.3 billion and approximately 10,600 employees who manage and maintain 325 developments that house over 400,000 residents. NYCHA also operates the country's largest Section 8 program, which provides rental assistance to over 200,000 additional families.To that end, the NYCHA monitorship is seeking a dedicated and organized Resident Consultant to assist with various tasks related to the management and scheduling of monitorship meetings at housing developments. The Resident Consultant will play a critical role in engaging with the community, coordinating logistics, and ensuring effective communication among residents, NYCHA, and the monitorship team. The Resident Consultant therefore must be available to attend most monitorship-related community meetings, site visits, and similar events in person, as well as meet in person with NYCHA residents. This consulting position also offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the well-being of your community. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:Meeting Coordinationa. Scope and identify suitable locations for community meetings such as resident town halls and development visits.b. Coordinate logistics of meetings, including meeting dates, times, locations, attendance, technology setup, and air-conditioning arrangements.Visit Coordinationa. Identify and recommend locations for housing development visits.b. Coordinate visit schedules with resident council leaders and NYCHA representatives.Community Engagementa. Speak with residents in advance of meetings to identify key issues impacting them.b. Gather feedback and concerns from residents to present at meetings.Liaison Dutiesa. Serve as a liaison and consultant concerning resident stakeholders.b. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration.Resident Supporta. Assist with other resident-facing matters as necessary.b. Provide support to residents to enhance their participation and engagement in community activities and decision-making processes.Minimum Qualification Requirements:1. Section 3 business or NYCHA resident.2. Experience with housing and/or community relations, including coordination of scheduling, interfacing with multiple stakeholder groups, and experience in the housing and/or government sector.3. Experience with and familiarity with public housing generally and/or NYCHA specifically.4. Ability to provide project management services on a regular basis for scheduling meetings and events.5.
