The Resident Hall Director participates as a member of the Residence Life staff, creates opportunities for student development through excellent programming and individual student interactions, and demonstrates a strong student focus with evening and weekend commitments. Following a model of Servant Leadership, the Resident Hall Director is responsible for the organization and leadership of student development activities, supervision of RA staff, adjudicating conduct, and management of administrative operations of assigned residential areas. The successful candidate must be committed to fostering a Christ-centered culturally diverse atmosphere for faculty, staff and students. Approximate Start Date: January 2, 2024Job Duties and Responsibilities Advising and Supervising:
- Manages residential areas consisting of 300-500 residents
- Supervises 10-16 Resident Assistants
- Supervises 1-2 Assistant Resident Directors (undergraduates)
- Administers the policies and regulations of the University fairly and consistently
- Supports student programming efforts and assists with program advisement, implementation, and coverage
Program Development, Implementation, and Assessment:
- Develops and coordinates programs and promotions for Residence Life
- Supports student programming for all of Student Life
- Manages RA programming to ensure it supports departmental values and reaches the needs of students
- Maintains existing signature programs within Residence Life
Staff Member:
- Works cooperatively with the Director of Residence Life and other Student Life personnel
- Assists with selecting, training, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating RAs
- Participates in on-call responsibilities, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution
- Responsible for enforcing University policies and procedures
- Coordinates room changes
- Maintains residence hall records and inventories; issuance/replacement of building keys; damage assessment/billing
- Oversees hall openings and closings of assigned residence area and supervises check in/out operations
- Articulates student interests/needs and facilitate the development of a healthy living environment
- Oversees development, implementation, and assessment of community programming
- Maintains communications and interactions with residence hall students, staff, and faculty
- Attends meetings, trainings, retreats, and planning sessions as deemed necessary
- Participates in New Student Orientation, Admissions visit days and other university-wide events as deemed necessary
- Maintains a high profile at student programs and athletic events
- Works nights and weekends as required for coverage of student programs and serves as an advisor for student events
- Partners with other Student Life staff through collaboration and seeks out opportunities to work with others
- Performs other duties as assigned
