Job Description:
The Medication Aide is directly responsible to the Assisted Living Director.Essential Job Functions: Provides routine daily nursing care in accordance with facility and state/federal guidelines.Specific Job Duties:
Maintains an active working relationship with nursing team and ancillary departments.Promotes the concept of customer satisfaction and positive interpersonal relationships.Participates in giving and receiving report from medication aides and nursing assistants.Demonstrates ability to perform nursing assistant duties as assigned.Actively participates in care conferences and scheduled meetings as appropriate.Attends scheduled training seminars and in-services as appropriate.Ensures privacy and resident rights are maintained by the nursing team.Reviews resident aide care sheets on a regular basisEnsures vital signs and weights are completed as scheduled.Performs restorative care and range of motion as instructedFollows work assignments and/or work schedules as assignedWilling to work in other areas across the campus as neededPractices good personal hygiene and facility dress codeAssumes added duties as assigned by Charge Nurse and/or supervisorDemonstrates ability to perform nursing assistant duties as assigned.Demonstrates ability to obtain pertinent information regarding residentsDemonstrates ability to plan and prioritize actions before starting resident caresPerforms procedures to meet individual resident needs for daily hygiene and appearance including, but not limited to, bathing, grooming, shaving, oral cares, and nail careDemonstrates proper techniques of lifting, transferring, and ambulating residentsImplements special care needs including incontinence cares, special skin care, catheter care, colostomy care, and turning/positioning techniquesAssists and encourages residents to take adequate diet, fluids, and supplementsRecognizes physical distress and acts to provide relief for those residentsIdentifies and reports physical and psychological symptoms or spiritual needs to appropriate staffAllows residents the freedom of choice in details of daily living whenever possiblePerforms and assists with activities per activity calendar/activity daily sheetsReports any observed physical or verbal abuse to the supervisor immediatelyEncourages residents to participate in self care as appropriateAssists resident with the application of prosthetics when appropriateProvides diversional activities as appropriate to meet resident needsDemonstrates effective and respectful communication with residents, families, and team membersDemonstrates knowledge of, and adheres to, actions to assure resident and staff safetyDemonstrates proper infection control procedures and practicesComplies with rules and regulations of regulatory and surveying agenciesAdministers medications/performs treatments per regulations at regulatory and surveying agenciesQualifications:Certified through WI CBRF as a Medication Aide.High school graduate or equivalent is preferred.Must be able to perform all the requirements of the nursing assistant job description.Must have no performance/attendance issues documented in the past year.Must possess good communication skills and a willingness to work with all team players.Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.Previous experience in a health care facility is desired.Must have an acceptable criminal background check.Schedule:-Part-time AM Shift: 6:00am - 2:30pm*-Part-time PM Shift: 2:00pm - 10:30pm**Every other weekend and every other holiday required with Part-time and Full-time positions.Pay: $18.75 - $24.62 per hour, depending on experience*-$2.00/hour Med Aide Differential-$1.00/hour PM Shift Differential-$3.00/hour Weekend Shift Differential (stacked onto hourly wage and PM/NOC differentials)*Shift differentials added to base wages for PM, NOC and Weekend shiftsQualificationsLicenses & CertificationsRequiredMed Admin CBRF Certification
