Duties include, but are not limited to operating and maintaining transportation vehicles with a focus on safety and courtesy; performing daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; performing minor maintenance tasks on the vehicles when necessary; fueling the vehicles; ensuring that periodic scheduled vehicle maintenance tasks are completed and reported; preparing accident and incident reports as necessary; assisting passengers in and out of the vehicle; and providing other services as requested by management when not engaged in transportation services.Requisite Requirements:
- HS Diploma or GED required.
- Must possess a valid NJ State driver's license.
- Must be 21 years of age, and possess and maintain a safe driving record.
- Ability to drive a multi-passenger vehicle safely and appropriately, including ability to read and interpret road signs in English; ability to read, understand and adhere to the rules and regulations of the Federal Transit Administration and the United States Department of Transportation.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, ability to prepare concise and accurate records and reports, and extensive knowledge of the operations and features of assigned vehicle(s).
- Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs and perform minor vehicle repairs.
- Skilled in reasoning skills to interpret policies, procedures, maps, and route directions.
- Possess some knowledge of a variety of computer programs.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift, push, pull and move a minimum of 35 pounds following safety precautions and instructions at all times.
- Must be able to move freely to respond to situations requiring driving, lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, standing, walking and sitting.
- Work is performed primarily out of the Resident Services Office and in company vehicles.
- Work areas may have a wide range of temperature varieties.
- Resident Transport Assistant is at risk for exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
- Job requires driving a company vehicle to/from medical appointments in NJ and PA, and making trips on a daily basis.
