Residential Aide (Evening)Job DetailsJob LocationSenate Residence - New York, NYPosition TypeFull TimeEducation LevelHigh School Diploma/ GEDSalary Range$31,154.00 - $38,955.00 Salary/yearDescriptionIntro/ Program Description:The Senate is a permanent supportive SRO residence for formerly homeless adults, many with severe and persistent mental illness, substance abuse/dependence, and co-morbid medical diagnoses. On-site services include case management, entitlement assistance, room inspections, medication management, money management, medical and psychiatric care, substance abuse counseling, 24/7 security and group activities.Purpose of Position:To provide direct assistance to tenants to maintain housing and to support both Building Management & Social Services team in the day to day functioning of the program. Support tenants with maintaining housing including assisting in the development of daily independent living skills, including room inspections, coordinating laundry, personal hygiene, food and escorts to offsite appointments. Support The Senate team by assisting with crises-de-escalation, compliance with client centered goals and funding requirements. The Senate operates within a housing first model which espouses that an individual must be housed prior to addressing personal stabilization. The team utilizes a client centered approach to work with tenants towards meeting their goals and maintaining permanent housing.Schedule: Sunday-Thursday PM 4:00 pm to 12:00 amSalary Range:$31,154 - $38,955Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate's number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential DutiesProvide direct support to case managers and building staffPerform room inspectionsEscort client to appointmentsMonitor and assist to develop tenants' daily independent living skillsHand out provider appointment slipsAssist with bringing tenants to various programming such as medication management, appointments, and groupsAssist with intakes into programFollow up with tenants who are in the hospitalsProvide tenants with hygiene & toiletry itemsCoordinate onsite food groups and other food related services as neededProvide conflict resolution between tenantsAnswer phones when necessaryMonitor common areas to ensure proper usageConduct frequent building roundsCollaborate with building staff and social service staff to coordinate tenant services and ensure tenant safety.Attend GRCC trainings and staff meetings as required by both agency and fundersDocument contacts in tenant case recordsQualifications/ Educational RequirementsHigh School Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree preferredExperience in residential or shelter settingPassion for working with individuals who were formerly homeless and are diagnosed with mental illness, substance abuse/dependence, and/or co-morbid medical concerns.Professional communication skills, comfortable working with othersAbility to maintain accurate records, prepare and submit all required paperwork in a timely and accurate manner, and learn program requirements and protocolsMust be able to multi task with strong organizational skillsBilingual is a plusSkills, Knowledge and AbilitiesPrior work experience with homeless/ mentally ill individuals strongly preferredComputer LiterateHighly organizedStrong communication skillsDetail orientated and systems savvyCompassionate and personableTeam-orientatedComputer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be:Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, OneDrive Excel, etc.Able to use or learn multiple databases including AWARDSPhysical Requirements:Frequent sitting, walking, climbing and lifting to 30 lbs.Work EnvironmentIndoor officeFacility groundsInspections of tenant unitsEscort to appointments offsiteWork site is in a residential buildingThis position is classified as a union position under the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Goddard Riverside and the United Service Workers Union Local 74 Collective Bargaining Unit. The union represents employees in the bargaining unit (i.e. Goddard employees in Local 74 union positions). The Collective Bargaining Agreement is a written contract that defines the agreed-upon terms and conditions of employment, including wage increases, paid time off and other benefits, and the grievance process. All employees in Local 74 union positions at Goddard Riverside are subject to and covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
