Thank you for your interest in becoming a Residential Assistant (RA) at Florida Memorial University. The Resident Assistants are a vital part of a team that is devoted to achieving the objectives of the Department of Housing Operations and Residential Life. As a representative of the University,every RA is required to have and uphold an appropriate and positive image - online and in person. Please review the Resident Assistant responsibilities below:
Essential Duties:
* Must reside on-campus in University-sponsored housing
* Be available to return early for residence hall check-in and stay through residence hall check-out at the opening and closing of residence halls including all breaks
* Work closely with Residential Hall Coordinators, other Resident Assistants, the Assistant Director and Director of Housing and Residential Life
* Attend staff meetings, one on ones, and other meetings are required
* Organize and implement floor meetings and community programs
* Be available to residents to assist with room conflicts, locks outs, academic advice, and mentorship
* Participate in weekday and weekend duty
* Respond to emergencies
* Act as a positive role model on or off-campus
* Attend all required training and meetings
* Support responsible hall governance
* Enforce FMU policies and regulations and state and federal law
* Refer students to appropriate student services on campus
* Must have basic computer literacy skills
* Document and report maintenance concerns
* Other duties assigned
The minimum qualifications for all potential Resident Assistants are:
* An accumulated G.P.A. of at least 2.75
* 24 hours of earned academic credit
* Enrolled at Florida Memorial University as a full-time student during the time of employment
* Good standing with the university conduct system
* Must have resided on campus for at least one semester; commuters with exceptional qualifications may be considered
* Other work employment must be limited to no more than 10 hours per week.
