JOB SUMMARY CCWC is interviewing for full-time, part-time and per diem Residential Assistants. Residential Assistants staff the shelter 24-hours each day, in three shifts, and their job is primarily to ensure the security and safety of the shelter and its residents. The primary accountabilities of this position are (1) provide crisis intervention, safety planning, information and referrals to individuals calling the 24-hour domestic violence assault hotline, (2) complete telephone screenings/intakes for individuals seeking access to the Emergency Safe House (3) carry out shelter guidelines and schedules and assist clients as needed. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES • Answer calls for the 24-hour Domestic Violence Hotline, to determine a callers' needs and provide crisis intervention by: conducting safety assessment and safety planning, supportive listening, providing callers with information on or about domestic violence and connecting callers to all appropriate resources including shelter availability information, as well as, exhibit excellent customer service. • Complete telephone intakes/screenings for individuals seeking access to CCWC Safe House/emergency shelter. • Ensuring the security and safety of the shelter and its residents; complete regular house checks. • Performing necessary shelter operations, including shelter welcoming/orientations to clients, maintaining a shift log and assisting with the daily living needs of the shelter residents. • In conjunction with the Residential Coordinator, Case Manager, and or Program Manager, takes appropriate steps to deal with emergency situations with the goal of maintaining the safety of all residents. • Perform other related duties as assigned. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Adheres to agency policies and work rules, including strict adherence to NJAC- CCWC confidentiality policies and code of ethics. • Attends agency meetings as required, including the monthly Residential Assistant's team meeting and assigned supervision meetings. • Attends trainings and continuing education activities as assigned. • Ability to work well with a variety of people from diverse backgrounds • Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and other staff. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE • High school Diploma or G.E.D and associate degree at minimum. BA degree preferred. • Bilingual Spanish preferred. • Experience in residential settings strongly preferred. • Crisis intervention and/or services for domestic violence survivors preferred. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a currently registered vehicle.
