Residential Camp Counselor (2nd Year)Camp TekakwithaSeasonal, Non-benefit eligible
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:The primary role of the Camp Counselor position at Camp Tekakwitha is to foster an environment where children grow in faith, independence, and community. The residential camp counselor will serve in a cabin and facilitate day to day programs/activities throughout weeklong summer sessions.As a member of the Camp Tekakwitha Summer Staff, this individual is expected to be a role model and set a standard of excellence for the residential campers, leadership campers, and counselors in training. While employed at Camp Tekakwitha, this individual must follow the most basic doctrine of the Catholic Church to align with the mission/vision of the Diocese of Green Bay. It is imperative that this individual understands the mission/vision of both the Diocese of Green Bay and Camp Tekakwitha.The ideal candidate will be an example of a Missionary Disciple with a servant heart. This should be someone who works well with children and is willing to work with a variety of ages. They should have strong communication skills and be patient, compassionate, and encouraging. The ideal candidate is one who has a desire to serve the campers, staff, and community deeply rooted in the Catholic faith.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Embrace the mission and vision of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay and work in accordance with Catholic Teachings and the moral and ethical values of the Catholic Church.
- Applicant must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be first aid/CPR certified (or willing to be trained).
- Lifeguard certification preferred (or willing to be trained).
- Understanding of the mission/vision of Camp Tekakwitha.
- Understanding of the Catholic Church, its teachings and practices.
- Must have experience working with kids - this can include babysitting, volunteering, etc.
- Demonstrate eager ability to learn, grow, and receive both positive and critical feedback.
- Basic knowledge of conflict resolution and problem solving.
- Must be a proficient listener and communicator with people from all walks of life.
- Desire to serve as a missionary disciple for the Diocese of Green Bay.
- Collaborative decision-making skills and conflict management.
- Ability to work well with people of all backgrounds and all ages.
- Strong relational ability to serve as a member of a team, work independently, lead small groups, and work one on one with individuals.
