DSP/ Residential Medical ClerkReports To: Director of Auxiliary ServicesCost Center: OperationsFLSA Status: Non-ExemptLocation: Burlington OfficeRate: $16.00-$17.25 an hourHours: Mon - Friday 9am-5pm, Will need to be flexible to meet the needs of early or late appointments.Summary: Provides support with the daily activities of the medical department including filing, appointment scheduling, accompanying persons served, (with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) to medical appointments, advocating for person served during medical appointments, providing assistance for activities of the daily living, Direct Support Professional duties (experience prefered), using Outlook & Google programs, using online medical portals, and using Therap operating system.Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications: to perform this job successfully, The preferred individual should be computer proficient including the use of Outlook, Google and maintaining spreadsheets, be able to hold Medication delegation status, and maintain COF Training Services and Kansas Departmnet Of Transpertatiion driver approval, exhibit a high degree of patience, empathy, and professionalism in working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Must be able to communicate clearly, including reading, writing, and speaking. Must have a working knowledge of other word processing programs, email programs and a willingness to learn other computer programs with training. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordination of and communication regarding access to medical care provided to individuals served.
  • Completes required consultation forms for medical appointments/treatments.
  • Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry or directs caller to appropriate personnel.
  • Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into a computerized scheduler.
  • Transports Clients to medical appointments.
  • Files medical information.
  • Documents incidents on incident report forms
  • Complies with agency HIPAA/Confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Must complete trainings as required within specified timeframe.
  • Assists persons served with toileting and cleaning.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Induviduals served may act out at times. There is always a chance that staff could be cursed at, spit on, bitten, hit, or touched inappropriately.
