The RCE hires, trains, supervises and evaluates staff by providing guidance, vision, and development for their staff in assigned communities. The RCE oversees the successful implementation, assessment and development of the residential curriculum emphasizing Community Development, Student Living and Student Learning. The curriculum and connections with residents are facilitated through direct supervision of both graduate and full- time professional staff who oversee paraprofessional staff in each area. Additionally, the RCE performs administrative duties congruent with maintaining community standards, and a safe and secure environment. They will also facilitate interaction and providing residents greater access and increased connection. This is typically 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Fridays, with some evening meetings and weekend work. The workload is usually heavier at the beginning and ending of the academic semesters. This position also requires staff to stay over some breaks to serve in the on-call rotation.Position presents exposure to resident disciplinary issues, emotional and/or substance abuse issues with students, and emergency situations within the residence halls such as severe weather and/or fire. Experience with residential education programs or equivalent curriculum knowledge. Experience working with college student population.Familiarity with conflict management process; experience in project management; experience administering a formal student conduct process; strong understanding of student learning and development; experience using knowledge of student learning and development to develop strategies to foster co-curricular learning in the residence halls guided by student learning outcomes.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in College Student Development, Higher Education or Leadership. Two years' experience with residential education programs or equivalent curriculum knowledge.
